Every week I will touch base with parents in different ways. Some people (like you) have chosen to follow my blog. I'm so glad! Some will just get emails, others will receive a paper copy. Either way, I hope you enjoy hearing about what is happening in our classroom.
Notes from Mrs. Barnard
Books we have read this week are First Day Jitters and Amazing Grace (this went along with the “I Feel Just Right” poem that went home Thursday.) We have written about our first day jitters and also wrote on stars about how they are amazing. They have such neat responses! J
Please remember to return any paperwork from Open House that needed to be signed. Remember that assignment books cost $3.50. You may turn that in at your earliest convenience.
Please sign the assignment book every night. The only homework they have this weekend is to read 15 minutes every day.
Next week we will begin each subject full force. I am looking forward to instruction time. We will begin DIBELS testing next week, which is just a reading test so we can see where the students are with their reading ability. There will also be a packet that goes home about Rocket Math. Please be on the look-out.
We will continue our BIG spelling pre-tests that we started today. We will test over 50 words at a time until we reach 500! This will guide the individual spelling tests they take each week.
School Supplies-Thank you for bringing in the needed school supplies. Everything on our list has a purpose. For example-the red folder is their Pinto Folder. They will take their red folder with them to Pinto Time during RTI. The blue folder is their homework folder. This folder will go home every night, except Friday. On Friday, they will bring their green folder. This folder will have notes and/or homework for the weekend. (I strive to not give homework over the weekend so you can enjoy family time. However, please continue to read.) Their purple folder will be for Rocket Math. Some people have asked about the Steno Pad. They will use this with spelling.
We had a great two days of school. The first day was quiet and cautious. Today we acted like old friends.
You have a great group of kiddos. You should be so proud of them!
Until next week,
Mrs. Barnard
