Food Reading Challenge

Food Reading Challenge
*This information was supposed to go home with your child tonight but the printer was not working properly.  Hopefully I will have a hard copy for your child tomorrow.
California Elementary is doing a reading challenge between all the grade levels AND the staff!  The theme is “Filling Up on Good Books”. Each grade level has a goal for their students to meet.  Once they meet their goal, they will get a piece of fruit (paper) and will hang it in the cafeteria.  Our collective goal is to cover the cafeteria with pieces of fruit!
Here is our goal:
For every 15 minutes your child reads they will show that on their chart in their folder.  They can read at home or school, books or magazines, newspapers or cereal boxes.  WHATEVER, as long as they are reading for the full 15 minutes.  When they fill up an entire row (2 hours) of reading, I will put a star at the end and give them a piece of fruit, which they will hang in the cafeteria.  This chart will be able to record 36 HOURS of reading!
This reading can be the same reading they use for the Book-It program.
